With a strong educational background and diverse clinical experience, Melissa brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her practice.
Melissa’s journey in social work began at Colorado State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Building upon her foundational education, she pursued further studies at the University of Vermont, culminating in a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Equipped with a solid academic foundation, Melissa embarked on a career dedicated to supporting individuals in their path towards recovery and well-being.
Melissa’s professional trajectory includes invaluable experiences in various clinical settings. She started her career as a substance use recovery counselor at an inpatient facility in Massachusetts, where she provided compassionate care and support to individuals challenged with addiction. Her commitment to holistic care led her to a counselor position at a Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic in Rhode Island, where she played a pivotal role in helping clients navigate the complexities of addiction recovery.
Driven by a desire to make a positive impact, Melissa transitioned to the role of a Recovery Coach in Burlington, Vermont, in 2021. Here, she leveraged her expertise to guide individuals towards sustainable recovery and personal growth, fostering resilience and empowerment.
In her most recent role as a psychotherapist intern at a local agency, Melissa focused her efforts on supporting survivors of sexual violence, demonstrating her dedication to serving vulnerable populations with empathy and sensitivity. Through trauma-informed approaches and evidence-based interventions, Melissa provided a safe and nurturing space for healing and, empowering her clients to reclaim their narratives.
Melissa joins the Adams Center where she works both independently with her own case load as well as working with a multi-disciplinary team. She enjoys the collegial support at the Adams Center.
