Allison Lawrey is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She has her Masters in Social Work from the University of New England in Portland, Maine as well as a Bachelors in Psychology and English from the University of Vermont.
Allison has interned at the University of Southern Maine’s counseling center where she saw clients of all ages. Prior, Allison was working with parents in rural parts of Maine who’s children had behavioral issues in school and at home. Her specialty population is children through adolescents, but also her practice is open to all ages. After returning to Burlington, Allison had practiced as a psychotherapist at the Vermont Center for Integrative Therapy before moving to The Adams Center.
Allison’s therapy style involves psycho-education through connecting what happens in the body when daily stressors interfere. She has a background in cognitive behavioral therapy, which changes behaviors by finding alternate thoughts to replace intrusive ones. She specializes in anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma and eating disorders. She believes that how you were raised and understood the world around you as a child will directly influence how you see yourself and the world around you later on. Allison’s space is LGBTQIA sensitive, open and accepting, and loving to all who enter.
